Phone scam: Warning over 'despicable' conmen

Police in Essex believe "despicable" crooks have made more than £300,000 from a telephone scam.

Conmen persuade bank customers to hand over cash or credit cards and pin numbers.

The latest victims are an 88-year-old Cambridgeshire woman who lost £5,000 and a man from Bedfordshire who lost £15,000.

Police say people should never give out bank details over the phone.
