E3: Shining the spotlight on indie video games

The E3 expo is typically associated with big budget, so-called triple-A video games from the major publishers.

But it is the indies that are generating much of the excitement at this year's event.

That is partly because the larger developers have delayed many of their more complex titles until 2015, but also because many of the coders are showing off genuinely innovative titles that stand out from the torrent of shooters and luxury car racing games.

There is now a genuine battle between Sony and Microsoft to sign up these smaller games to populate the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One online stores.

The BBC's North America Technology correspondent Richard Taylor took a look at some of the new titles on show at the Los Angeles event.
