John Humphrys speaks to first chatbot to pass Turing Test
A computer program called Eugene Goostman, which simulates a 13-year-old Ukrainian boy, is said to have passed the Turing Test.
The test, devised by computer science pioneer Alan Turing, investigates whether people can detect if they are talking to machines or humans.
The BBC's John Humphrys decided to put the program to the test by holding a conversation with Eugene, whose responses were voiced by an actor.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 11 June.
