FBI probes celebrity photo leaks
The FBI is looking into allegations that intimate pictures of celebrities have been stolen and posted online.
It is understood that some of the pictures were stolen from backup services such as Apple's iCloud.
Arik Hesseldahl, senior editor at the technology news website Re-Code, told the Today programme: "I understand that there was some disclosures by group of researchers from Russia who released a tool that could be used or misused for automatically guessing passwords."
"Apple apparently had allowed whoever was carrying out the attack to make infinite numbers of guesses" without being locked out, he added.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday 2 September.
