Bringing Vincent van Gogh's ear 'back to life'

US based artist Diemut Strebe grew a replica copy of painter Vincent van Gogh's ear earlier this year.

Living cells were taken from one of Van Gogh's relatives and shaped using a 3D printer to resemble the ear the artist is said to have cut off in 1888.

The ear, which was placed in a nutrient rich solution to keep it alive, formed part of an art exhibition at a German museum.

BBC Click's Spencer Kelly went behind the scenes to find out more.
