Amazon walker Ed Stafford 'attacked with cement'

Ed Stafford has spent almost two-and-a-half years walking through the Amazon basin.

The 34-year-old former Army captain from Leicestershire is believed to be the first person to complete the 4,000-mile trek from source to sea.

He charted his journey along the way through a blog and video posts.

Some of the communities Ed encountered regarded him with suspicion and hostility, whether because of local superstitions about white people or wariness of oil prospectors.

At one point, he was covered with water and cement powder and villagers urged him to leave.
