Gastric surgery helps couple lose 25 stone

The number of obese people having weight-loss surgery on the NHS in England has increased by nearly 800% in just five years.

The figures from the health service have been released at the same time as a study in the British Medical Journal which says the rise is partly due to patients becoming more aware of surgery as an option.

Roy and Kate Glencross underwent bariatric surgery and think it was worth every penny that the NHS spent.
