PM says child benefit cuts are 'fair'

Prime Minister David Cameron has told the BBC that planned child benefit cuts are "difficult" but "fair".

Chancellor George Osborne announced at the Conservative Party conference on Monday that from 2013 the benefit would be removed from families with at least one parent earning more than about £44,000 a year.

Mr Cameron said he wanted to "support and help" families but the change was need to help cut the UK's deficit.
