Prisoners 'should be allowed to vote'

Thousands of convicted prisoners in the UK are to get the right to vote after the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the present ban was unlawful.

Juliet Lyon from the Prison Reform Trust says a modern prison service is about rehabilitation as well as punishment, and the current system which bans inmates from voting is 'outdated'.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, Ms Lyon said she believes going to prison is about losing your liberty, not about other punishment, and having the right to vote is about playing your role within society.
