Compensation to be paid to Guantanamo detainees

The Justice Secretary Ken Clarke has announced that compensation, believed to run into millions of pounds, will be paid to sixteen former detainees held at the American military prison Guantanamo Bay.

The settlement paves the way for an independent inquiry into allegations of British complicity in the torture of detainees held by other countries.

Daniel Sandford reports.
