Protesters try to break into police van at Trafalgar Square rally

Tensions mounted in Trafalgar Square in central London as protesters against a rise in student fees tried to break into a police van.

There have also been demonstrations in Leeds, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol.
