Inquiry to examine LSE links with Libya

The London School of Economics has commissioned an independent inquiry into its links with the Libyan government.

The move follows the resignation of the university's director Sir Howard Davies.

In 2009 the LSE accepted a large donation from a foundation controlled by one of Colonel Gaddafi's sons.

Sir Howard Davies said LSE's reputation had been damaged and that he had to take responsibility for that.
