'Aggressive' African rock python found in Newcastle

A 6ft (1.8m) African long rock python has been found dumped in a pillowcase by some bins in Newcastle.

A 12-year-old boy took the snake to a local reptile shop where owner Steve Brooks identified the species.

The female snake has the potential to grow to around 28ft (8.5m) and is known to be more aggressive than some other species of python.

Mr Brooks said that in the short-term he had the facilities to look after the snake, but that a more suitable home is being sought.
