UK 'better prepared' for volcanic ash than last year

Ash from a huge volcanic eruption in Iceland could reach the UK, having already caused the closure of Iceland's main airport and the cancellation of domestic flights.

A 12-mile high plume of smoke has erupted from the Greemsverten volanco, but UK Transport Secretary Philip Hammond told the BBC the goverment is better prepared than it was when a similar event happened last year.
