Waste crime sentencing 'a clear deterrent'

A man has been sentenced to four years in prison for dumping waste and money laundering.

Hugh O'Donnell led a group which dumped thousands of tonnes of building waste at illegal sites, including one near Reading the size of five football pitches.

The Environment Agency says it's the biggest case it has ever brought.

The agency's solicitor, Angus Innes, said the sentence "was a clear deterrent" to others contemplating waste crime.
