Cameron promises News of the World phone hack probe

The prime minister has promised a public inquiry amid mounting pressure over claims of widespread phone hacking at the News of World.

Rupert Murdoch condemned the allegations against his paper as 'deplorable', but backed his embattled senior executive Rebekah Brooks.

But yet more shocking allegations have emerged. The Daily Telegraph is claiming that private phone numbers of families of dead servicemen have been found in the files of the private investigator, Glenn Mulcaire.
