Tottenham looks like 'battlefield' after riots

Large numbers of police are on the streets of Tottenham in north London, after a night of rioting.

Buildings, patrol cars and a double decker bus were set on fire, and shops were looted.

Eight police officers were taken to hospital, at least one of them with head injuries.

The trouble flared when about 200 people gathered outside a police station to protest about the death of a man who was shot by officers on Thursday.

Clasford Stirling, a resident of Tottenham for 32 years, said the area looked like a battlefield.
