Tottenham riots have destroyed the community, says resident

Scotland Yard say the level of violence, which broke out after a peaceful protest in Tottenham in north London, could not have been predicted.

Buildings, including people's homes, were set on fire, shops and banks were looted and police officers were attacked.

The trouble flared when about 200 people gathered outside a police station to protest about the death of Mark Duggan who was shot by officers on Thursday.

One local resident, Demelza, told the BBC's Phil Lavelle that the violence would have a long-term effect on the community's prospects.
