Deputy Mayor: 'Police were incredibly stretched'

Deputy Mayor of London Kit Malthouse, with responsibility for policing, has said that police were "incredibly stretched" as disturbances broke out across the city on Monday night.

He said it was impossible to pretend that Monday night had been anything other than an "overwhelming evening".
