Liverpool riots 'caused by government cuts'

Young people in Liverpool have gathered via Facebook to help clean up the streets of Toxteth following riots.

There were reports of disorder around the city with Merseyside Police dealing with a number of "isolated outbreaks" of disorder, including reports of vehicles on fire and criminal damage.

Malik Al Nasir, poet and social commentator, says he believes the social unrest has been triggered by government spending cuts but urged youths to stay in tonight.
