Level of force should be decided on ground - Kevin Hurley

Police in England and Wales are to be given new guidance on the tactics they can use to tackle disorder.

Kevin Hurley, a former borough and public order commander with the Metropolitan Police, says officers on the ground must be left to judge how best to manage the situation but some form of legislation should also be passed in order to give them greater protection, as many officers worry about using excessive force.
