MPs to consider televised court sentences

The government has confirmed to that BBC that ministers will put forward proposals for some televising of court proceedings.

The proposals refer to the sentencing of offenders in English courts rather than trials would be televised or even verdicts.

Conservative MP John Whittingdale is chair of the Commons Select Committee for Culture, Media and Sport and said he supports the idea.
