Mayor Boris Johnson defends riots policing

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has defended how the city's police handled the recent riots, saying that the "crisis" caught everyone unawares.

Speaking to MPs, Mr Johnson declined to agree with the prime minister that police had got their tactics wrong.
