Dale Farm eviction hearing starts

The High Court hearing to decide whether residents can be evicted from the UK's largest illegal travellers' site has started.

Basildon Council is hoping to overturn an injunction won by residents of Dale Farm in Essex stopping the clearance.

But the Gypsy Council has launched a second action asking for a delay.

The judge Mr Justice Edwards-Stuart said he did not expect to deliver a judgement on the injunction until Monday. Jeremy Cooke reports.
