Paul and Rachel Chandler criticise UK rescue effort

Paul and Rachel Chandler have criticised the government for putting the Foreign Office in charge of securing their release from Somali pirates, rather than police.

The couple, formerly from Kent but now living in Devon, were seized from their yacht near the Seychelles in 2009.

They told the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee that said the Foreign Office could only offer "tea and sympathy" for their relatives.

Rachel Chandler also explained why the couple had written their memoirs on their return.
