M5 crash: 'Several dead' in Somerset accident

Several people are said to have died and as many as 35 people have been injured in an accident involving 27 vehicles which has closed the M5 near Bridgwater, Somerset, in both directions.

A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has called the incident "the worst road traffic collision anyone can remember". It is expected the road will be shut for many hours.
