London 2012: Inside Olympic Games transport centre

The London 2012 Olympic Games are being described as Britain's largest peacetime logistical exercise, and one of the biggest challenges is transport.

A huge planning operation is under way to ensure athletes and officials get to the Games on time and to keep traffic moving across the city.

The operation will be co-ordinated from Transport for London's (TfL) existing traffic control centre.

Graham Jones, TfL's Surface Transport Games Programme Director, explains how the centre works and what extra provisions are being made.
