MoD equipment bill up by £466m

The cost of equipment ordered by the Ministry of Defence has risen by nearly half a billion pounds in the past year, despite the government's efforts to reign in spending.

The National Audit Office said the £466m increase represented poor value for money, as well as saying decisions taken by the MoD have left the Royal Navy short of attack submarines.
