It was the world's first portrait gallery.

To get your picture on the wall you had to be great, good and dead for decades.

The Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh is preparing to reopen after a multi-million pound refurbishment.

And the criteria has changed, which is just as well for Sir Alex Ferguson and Susan Boyle.
