Nearly 3,000 'honour' attacks in the UK, say police

Police in the UK have recorded at least 2,823 so-called honour attacks last year, figures from 39 out of 52 forces have shown.

A freedom of information request by the Iranian and Kurdish Women's Rights Organisation revealed that nearly 500 of these were in London.

The attacks are carried out when people are believed to have brought shame on their family, and can include abduction, beating, and even mutilation.
