Bashir on Lawrence verdict: 'Justice has been done'

Martin Bashir, who in 1999 interviewed all five men suspected of involvement in killing Stephen Lawrence, has told the BBC that "justice has been done".

Gary Dobson and David Norris have been convicted of the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence 18 years after he was stabbed to death.

Mr Bashir, who works for NBC News, told the BBC's Newsnight, external that the police deserve credit for the case they put together to ensure the convictions.

"It was such a formidable investigation that the defence didn't produce a single witness to challenge a single aspect of the key forensic evidence", he said.
