Michael Moore: Scottish referendum 'must be fair and legal'

The Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore, has announced there will be a consultation on how to hold a referendum on Scottish independence.

Speaking in the Commons, he said it was essential the referendum was "legal, fair and decisive".

He added: "Scotland's future within the United Kingdom will be the most important decision we as Scots take in our lifetime."
