Daily Telegraph's 'hoax' fear on MPs' expenses scoop

The Daily Telegraph paid the middle man in the MPs' expenses story £150,000 for the disc containing the information, the Leveson Inquiry into media ethics has heard.

Will Lewis, the editor of the newspaper at the time, said he had initially been concerned the story was a hoax.

He added: "I was also aware that this story was laced with risk all round, as the best and most important journalism tends to be''.
