Student to appeal extradition hearing
A student at a Sheffield university has been told by a judge he can be extradited to the US to face charges of copyright infringement.
Richard O'Dwyer, 23, set up the TVShack website which US authorities say hosts links to pirated copyrighted films and television programmes.
If found guilty in a US court he could face up to five years in jail.
Julia O'Dwyer, Richard's mother, said she was disappointed with the extradition treaty, "which has opened the floodgates to America".
Mr O'Dwyer said he would now concentrate on his appeal.
