Ian Hislop: New press laws are not needed

Private Eye editor Ian Hislop has told the Leveson Inquiry into media ethics that new laws are not needed to govern the press.

He said practices such as phone hacking, paying police officers and being in contempt of court contravene existing laws.

The Have I Got News For You panellist said the inquiry should examine why the laws were not rigorously enforced.
