Queen marks 60th anniversary of accession to throne

The Queen has marked the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne with a visit to King's Lynn in Norfolk.

The visit was the start of celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee, which will be formally marked with four days of celebration in early June.

During the day, royal gun salutes were fired in several locations, as the BBC's royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell reports.
