Locked in Syndrome: Should law change on right to die?
The High Court has ruled that Tony Nicklinson, who is paralysed from the neck down and wants a doctor to be able to lawfully end his life, can proceed with his "right-to-die" case.
Right to Die campaigner, Debbie Purdy, who has severe Multiple Sclerosis, is pleased that Tony Nicklinson's case will go to a full hearing, where medical evidence can be heard.
Timothy James, Senior Lecturer in Law and Medical Ethics at Birmingham City University, said the courts had to look at this in a balanced way.
He said none of us had the right to kill ourselves, it was a question of whether we ought to.
