Fuel strike threat: Emergency talks to be held

Talks to try to avert strike action by fuel tanker drivers are unlikely to take place on Wednesday, conciliation service Acas has said.

Drivers working for five oil companies are angry about proposed changes to health and safety standards and their terms and conditions.

The former head of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat of the Cabinet Office, Mike Grannatt, told the BBC he thinks the priority will be "to make sure... people who need fuel very specifically for the good of the nation... can get fuel when they need it."
