Agents allowed anonymity as inquest into MI6 death begins

The inquest has begun into the death of an MI6 officer, whose body was found padlocked inside a large bag.

Post mortem tests failed to establish the cause of Gareth Williams' death in 2010.

Opening the inquest, the coroner, Fiona Wilcox, said intelligence agents could give evidence anonymously.

She described Mr Williams' death as highly controversial, but said there was a real risk of harm to national security if some of those who are to give evidence were exposed.

The BBC's security correspondent Gordon Corera reports.
