Leveson Inquiry: Gordon Brown rejects Murdoch evidence

Gordon Brown has flatly contradicted evidence given under oath to the Leveson Inquiry by Rupert Murdoch.

When he appeared at the inquiry Mr Murdoch said the former prime minister had declared war on the company in an angry phone call. Today, Mr Brown said there was no such call.

Mr Brown also denied that he or his wife, Sarah, had given permission for the Sun newspaper to run a story about their son's battle with a chronic illness.

The Chancellor George Osborne also gave evidence to the inquiry today. He defended the government's dealings with the Mr Murdoch's bid for BSkyB.
