British soldier flies 7,000 miles from Afghanistan for baby birth

A British soldier has returned to the front line in Helmand Province after an unexpected 7,000 mile round-trip to witness the birth of his first child.

Sergeant Simon Mercer's baby was not due for more than two months but things took a dramatic turn when his wife Karen went to hospital for a routine visit and went into labour.

Alex Dunlop reports.
