Street-Porter: I was aware of Savile rumours

Broadcaster Janet Street-Porter has clamied she "was aware of the rumours about Jimmy Savile" when she joined the BBC as an executive in the 1980s and that there was "definitely a culture in light entertainment of inappropriate sexual behaviour", although not necessarily with underage children.

Speaking to Question Time following allegations of abuse against the entertainer Sir Jimmy Savile, Street-Porter said it was important to "send a clear message that those with power in TV must not abuse their position."
