October 1987 storm: Michael Fish

On Monday it will be 25 years since the October storm battered southern England, leaving 18 people dead and many more injured.

The event became memorable after BBC weatherman Michael Fish reassured a viewer that a hurricane was not on the way.

He was correct in one sense, it wasn't a hurricane as the storm had not originated in the tropics.
