Seaweed therapy used to save mother and baby
Doctors in Hull have saved the life of a pregnant woman and her baby with a pioneering treatment that uses fibre from seaweed.
Rapeewan Parcell from Bridlington was diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening condition called pre-eclampsia.
Mrs Parcell lost six pints of blood after giving birth. Instead of using conventional drugs, medical staff at Hull Royal Infirmary applied the vegetation to help stem the bleeding.
