Archbishop of Canterbury: Dr Rowan Williams' final address

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has made his final address to the Church of England's General Synod.

His appearance came less than 24 hours after the governing body rejected plans to allow women bishops.

In his speech, Dr Williams spoke of the importance of trust.

He said: "Quite a lot of the sad and difficult stand-off in which we find ourselves as a Synod at the moment seems to come from a mutual lack of trust."
