London Overground: East to south London in three minutes

Londoners have a new route on their tube map from Sunday, as trains start to run on the new extension to the Overground network.

The new route runs between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction, allowing passengers to travel directly between south west and east London, via the Docklands.

It also completes a new orbital service around outer London on the Overground network, which Transport for London hopes will help ease congestion in central areas.

BBC News took the 40-minute ride from Dalston Junction to Clapham Junction and shrank the journey from east to south London into just three minutes.
