Victim protection: 'I had to give up my friends and family'

The UK's first national witness protection scheme is to be launched to improve an "inconsistent" approach to keeping vulnerable people safe, the Ministry of Justice has said.

Just over one in four collapsed prosecutions last year were a result of witnesses or victims being unwilling to give evidence, despite £19m a year being spent on protection services annually.
