Belfast flag row violence flares

Violence has erupted in east Belfast after loyalists staged a protest over plans to limit the days the union flag flies over City Hall.

A peaceful demonstration outside City Hall was held as councillors met for the first time since they voted in favour of the move on 3 December.

But trouble flared afterwards as protesters reached the nationalist Short Strand area.

Petrol bombs and bricks were also thrown during rioting on Robbs Road in Dundonald on Monday evening.
