Minister: Probation overhaul 'tackling real problem'

The Justice Minister, Lord McNally, says that the overhaul of the probation service in England and Wales will tackle the 'real problem' of reoffending.

Under the changes low risk offenders will be supervised by the private sector.

Lord McNally told BBC Breakfast that too many people on short sentences are ending up going back to prison after release.
