Horsemeat found in beef burgers in UK and Ireland

Millions of beefburgers on sale at several supermarkets in the UK and Ireland are being pulled off the shelves after food safety officials found they contained horsemeat.

Investigations have been launched at three meat processing plants in Yorkshire and the Irish Republic.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland, which had carried out checks, said the products had been stocked by a number of chains including Tesco stores in the UK.
